“The bird fluttered to the top of the fence post.”
“Cherry petals fluttered down upon the picnickers.”
“Flutter” describes a light, dainty flapping motion. It’s used for small, cute flying things (such as birds or butterflies), or things that move in a similar way (such as papers or leaves falling through the air).
「小鳥が柵の柱の上まで飛んだ。」
「ピクニックをしている人の上に桜の花びらが舞い落ちた。」
Flutter とは軽く上品な動き（羽ばたき）のことです。飛ぶ小さな可愛いもの（鳥や蝶など）や、同じような動きするもの（紙吹雪や葉っぱなど）に使います。

Bees are very important to us humans. They pollinate plants that grow many foods that we eat. Have you seen bees near your home lately? If you have a yard, you can help bees by planting flowers and plants that they like.
蜂は人間にとってとても大事な生き物です。私たちが食べる植物を授粉します。最近、家の近くで蜂を見ましたか？庭があれば、蜂の好きな花や植物を植えると、蜂の役に立てますよ。

“You’ll never guess who I saw at the store today.”
“Who?”
“It’s someone you know, but I don’t think you’ve seen him for a few years.”
“Don’t keep us in suspense. Just tell us already.”
“All right, fine. It was my cousin.”
A good storyteller can create a feeling of suspense, whether telling a story verbally or in a book or movie. But we don’t always appreciate this feeling in everyday conversation.
「今日店で意外な人に会ったよ。」
「誰？」
「君も知っている人だけど、多分数年会ってないと思う。」
「出し惜しみしないで教えてよ。」
「わかった、わかった。僕の従兄弟だよ。」
ストーリーテラーは口頭で映画や小説でストーリーを伝えているにかかわらずサスペンス感を与えることができます。ですが、日常の会話であまりありがたくないかもしれません。

津波が来るときに海で遊んでいる人を「温めて」も仕方ありませんのでＤはアウトです。後に来る文が現在形なのにＢの過去形を選ぶと変ですね。Ｃはisが前にないので現在進行形は使えません。残りのwarn（忠告する）またはtold（伝えた）のどちらでもいいですが、tsunami is comingという部分が現在形になっているのでＡが一番適切です。

A litter is a group of brother and sister kittens that were born at the same time.
The word “litter” also means throwing garbage on the street. Animal rescue groups use a play on words to encourage cat owners to get their animals spayed and neutered: “Don’t litter!”
Litter とは、一緒に産まれた子猫の兄弟です。
この Litter の別の意味は「ポイ捨て」です。動物愛護団体が語呂合わせでこの単語を使って猫の飼い主に避妊去勢手術を受けさせるよう促しています。 Don’t litter! 「ポイ捨てするな！（子猫を産ませるな！）」

“I know you’re sick of studying, but just soldier on through one more week of classes, and then you’ll have a vacation.”
Sometimes you have to keep going through difficult conditions or keep working at an unpleasant task. At a time like that, you must soldier on until the end.
「勉強にうんざりしているのはわかるけど、あと1週間頑張ったら休みだよ。」
つらい状況や嫌な仕事を頑張り続ける必要があるときは、最後まで soldier on （頑張り続ける）しないといけません。

“We want to make a good impression, so polish the floor until it sparkles!”
Something that sparkles gives off flashes of light. Of course, a clean floor is just reflecting light from another source. But small lights like stars can also sparkle.
「良い印象を与えたいので、床をピカピカに磨いて！」
ピカピカするものはキラッと輝く光を放ちます。もちろん、綺麗な床は別の光が反射しているだけですが、星などの小さな光もsparkle （ピカピカ）します。

At a traditional graduation ceremony, the students wear special robes and special hats called “mortarboards”. Then at the end of the ceremony, they all throw their hats into the air. This is a common image of graduation in popular culture.
伝統的な卒業式では、生徒達は特別なローブを着て、「モーターボード」と呼ばれる角帽をかぶります。式の終わりに、皆で角帽を上に向かって投げます。大衆文化によくある「卒業」のイメージです。

“Ouch! I stubbed my toe on the table leg.”
It’s easy to catch your toe on the leg of a table or chair. Sometimes it’s very painful. We call this “stubbing your toe”.
「痛！テーブルの脚で足の指を打ちつけてしまった。」
テーブルや椅子の脚に足の指をぶつけやすいですよね。ときにはすごく痛いです。これは「stub (your/my/her/his) toe」と言います。
