大好評につき動物シリーズ続けますね。今週はお猿さん、Cheeky Monkeyです。Cheekyはイギリスでよく使う単語です。「生意気な」という意味ですが、ネガティブな意味ではありせん。おませな子供や生意気なことを言う子供に対して Cheeky Monkey「生意気な子、生意気な奴」と呼んだりします。使ってみてくださいね。

Classroom Tip
This chant from Happy Valley Student Book 3, Unit 9, introduces common vocabulary associated with children’s pretend play. This relates to Unit 2 Playtime’s dress up theme and also reviews places where we keep our toys. Children often need lots of encouragement to clean up or else they won’t be able to find what they want the next time they play. So, tying in the idea of a messy room can bring this unit to life. Children can pretend to be a teacher looking for stickers, or a ballerina and pirate looking for their things. Using props like a colored pencil case as a closet, a table as a shelf (if you don’t have a real shelf), and either a real carpet or a small rug, children’s imaginations can come to life. This unit also reviews the prepositions from U6, in, on, under, by, so be sure to sing that as well (HV3 Track 7, p71). After Storytime, do the Indoor Play Chant and then do it again with gestures. Play a game to practice the vocabulary. Then, using real or pretend objects to represent the closet, shelf and rug, have students play and then put their belongings away. Choose a different student each time and role play that they can’t find what they need. The other students can help by saying just in, on, under, or by with a gesture for the object and over a few classes help them say the full target language phrase.

ハッピーバレー3ユニット9のこのチャントは、子供のごっこ遊びでよく使うボキャブラリーを紹介します。ユニット2のドレスアップともつながっていて、おもちゃをしまっておく場所の復習にもなります。子供達に後片付けをするよう繰り返し促さないと、次に遊ぶときに欲しいものがみつかりません。散らかった部屋という設定がこのユニットを面白くしています。ステッカーを探す先生、物を探すバレリーナや海賊になって遊びましょう。筆箱をクローゼットにしたり、（棚がなければ）テーブルを棚にしたり、カーペットや小さなラグを使ったりして想像力をかきたてましょう。ユニット6の前置詞in, on, under, byも使いますのでその曲も歌ってくださいね（HV3 Track 7, p71）。ストーリータイムの後はもう一度ジェスチャーを加えてしましょう。ゲームでボキャブラリーを練習します。そして、クローゼット、棚、カーペット（またはそれに例えたもの）をつかって遊び、生徒におもちゃをしまってもらい、他の生徒がin, on, under, byのジェスチャーで助けてあげましょう。授業で繰り返し行ってターゲットが言えるように教えてあげましょう。

今週も動物シリーズです。Dogを使った表現もたくさんありますが、今日はコレ、Dog Tiredです！意味ですが何となく想像できますよね。元気で疲れ知らずのワンコがTiredなので、
「疲れ果てた」「へとへと」「くたくた」って意味です。もう覚えましたね！
I’m dog tired. 「僕、もうヘトヘト」って感じで使ってね。

This chant from Happy Valley Student Book 3, Unit 8, introduces foods we often eat for dinner.
教室でのヒント
ストーリータイムの後、Dinner Chantをして、もう一度ジェスチャーを加えてチャントします。TouchやSlow Revealなどのゲームでボキャブラリーの練習をします。このユニットの目標は「I’d like…」で「What would you like for dinner?」の質問にこたえることです。「What Would You Like For Dinner?」の歌でフレーズを練習しましょう。最後におもちゃの食べ物やフラッシュカードでストーリータイムのロールプレイをします。一人の生徒がおばあちゃん役をして、皆に食べたいものを質問し渡します。
Classroom Tip
After Storytime, do the Dinner Chant and then do it again with gestures. Play a game to practice the vocabulary, like Touch or Slow Reveal. This unit aims for students to use the chunk I’d like… answering What would you like for dinner? Sing the song “What Would You Like For Dinner?” to practice those phrases. Finally, using plastic foods or flashcards, have students role play the storytime. One student can be Grandma, using the language to ask what everyone wants and then pretending to serve them.

ストーリータイムの後、Dinner Chantをして、もう一度ジェスチャーを加えてチャントします。円形の白い紙をお皿にして、雑誌やネットで見つけた、もしくは自分で描いた子供の好きな食べ物の絵で夜ごはんを作りましょう。「What would you like?」や「What do you want?」と質問します。答えは「Spaghetti, please」だけでもいいですし、より正確に「I’d like spaghetti, please」と教えるのも良いでしょう。
At Home Tip
Do the Dinner Chant and then do it again with gestures. Using a round piece of white paper as a plate, draw or find pictures of the food your child likes (printed from the internet or clipped from magazines) to make a dinner plate. You can ask What would you like? or What do you want? They can answer Spaghetti, please, or you can teach them the full phrase, I’d like spaghetti, please.
