“I’ve been working around the clock to get this finished.” “You need a break!”

When something continues throughout the whole day, we say “around the clock”. That means twenty-four hours. But a clock face has only twelve hours!

It’s a little different from “pulling an all-nighter,” which means working all night.

「これを終わらせるために徹夜で働いている。」「休憩が必要ね!」

何かを一日中続けるとき、「around the clock」と言います。つまり、24時間休みなく続けます。でも実際、時計は1~12しか書いてないですよね…

晩から朝まで働く「徹夜」とは少しちがいます。
